Use the following instructions to set the vSphere Multi-pathing and also increase the IOPS.   Read the below IBM Redbooks to understand the requirements for these commands.

Use the following command to find the identifier for the XIV disk.

#esxcli nmp device list

eui.0017380000510f4c

Device Display Name: IBM Fibre Channel Disk (eui.0017380000510f4c)

Storage Array Type: VMW_SATP_DEFAULT_AA

Storage Array Type Device Config:

Path Selection Policy: VMW_PSP_RR

Path Selection Policy Device Config: {policy=rr,iops=1000,bytes=10485760,useANO=0;lastPathIndex=5: NumIOsPending=0,numBytesPending=0}

Working Paths: vmhba4:C0:T1:L1, vmhba4:C0:T2:L1, vmhba4:C0:T3:L1, vmhba4:C0:T4:L1, vmhba4:C0:T5:L1, vmhba4:C0:T0:L1

eui.0017380000511326

Device Display Name: IBM Fibre Channel Disk (eui.0017380000511326)

Storage Array Type: VMW_SATP_DEFAULT_AA

Storage Array Type Device Config:

Path Selection Policy: VMW_PSP_RR

Path Selection Policy Device Config: {policy=iops,iops=32,bytes=10485760,useANO=0;lastPathIndex=5: NumIOsPending=0,numBytesPending=0}

Then run the following two commands to increase the iops

esxcli nmp roundrobin setconfig -d eui.0017380000511326 –iops 32 –type iops

esxcli nmp roundrobin setconfig -d eui.0017380000510f4c –iops 32 –type iops
